    Paris metro

  • About 44625 people are working for Paris RATP: in the bus, metro, RER(=suburb metro) and tramway.
    The official website is: www.RATP.fr
Except French, the website is also in English, Dutch and German language

  • metro ticket
A single ticket cost €1.40. If you buy 10 tickets together (called a 'carnet') you will get a reduction. Full fare price is then €10.70. There are tickets vending machines on some stations but they are in French language and require creditcards or coins. If you use your bankpas, you have the chance that you won't get tickets but that your bank account will be charged afterwards! (happend to me). Best is therefore to go to the ticket window, because you also will get there two free metro/paris maps.

  • metro passes
The most expensive metro pass is 53 Euro for 5 calendar days and 8 zones. The cheapest is 8,35 Euro for 1 day. Children (4-11 years) pay half price. The pass is on sale in all metro, RER and SNCF stations, the Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports and in certain Parisian hotels and many tour operators abroad.

  • At the RATP-website is also a metro map and RER map in colour which you can print out for your journey in Paris.
In most metro stations you can get a free streetmap/metro map of Paris at one of the ticket counters
